Early Career Environmental Engineer

Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.Selected applicant will take part in providing local technical assistance for investigations of soil, air, and groundwater and protection and mitigation efforts relating to water supply, property transfers, hazardous or solid waste disposal, air emission sources, and pollution control. Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.Your ImpactUnder general supervision, provide field support on a wide variety of environmental projects including site assessment, remediation, compliance programs, Phase I environmental site assessments, and sampling/monitoring.Conduct subsurface investigations which include drilling, geologic/geotechnical logging and environmental media sampling.Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements.Perform engineering calculations, cost estimates, data validation, and report preparation.Prepare reports, including documentation field investigative procedures, data management and interpretation, development of graphical and tabular presentation of data, and Phase 1 environmental site assessments.Utilize GIS to support data evaluation, presentation and mapping, as applicable.Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site, providing entry-level technical assistance on various environmental issues.Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.Work closely with WSP project managers to meet client expectations with regards to defined project objectives, schedule, budget, change management, problem solving, and project deliverables.Demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft Office products and strong technical writing and data analysis skills.Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, the maintenance of sample collection, location data, statistical documentation, and logbooks.Complete training on assigned tasks.Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.Who You AreRequired QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Civil, or Geological Engineering or closely related discipline.0 to 1 years of relevant post education experienceExcellent research skills with analytical mindset.Familiarity with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products.Familiarity with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.Preferred Qualifications:Engineer in Training Certification (or ability to obtain).Certifications: OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER TrainingPrior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.Job Info
