SUMMARY:

Under general direction of the Sterile Processing Manager, the Supervisor of Sterile Processing oversees the daily functions of the unit.DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Provides direct and effective supervision to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments; maintains adequate department staffing levels to ensure daily operations.Manages the function involving the general maintenance of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies, including decontamination, sterilization, assembly and distribution.Schedules and coordinates departmental training; manages work programs; oversees on-the-job training.Responsible for the safe and efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and equipment. Twenty-four hour accountability for all personnel activities occurring in the Sterile Processing Department.Develops and maintains standards in consistent instrument and equipment quality, distribution and availability and compliance with safety and regulatory standards; initiates improvements when necessary.Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Required Education : High School Diploma or G.E.DPreferred Education : Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related fieldRequired Experience : Five years as a Sterile Processing TechnicianPreferred Experience : Two years in a supervisory position within a healthcare environment.Required Licenses/Certifications : Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)Preferred Licenses/Certifications : Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS)
