Remote Employee US, CA, USThis position is for a Principal Engineer, Storage and Server System Architect. As system architect, one will define the architecture of the Storage/Server system, lead new technology research, study market trends, interface with customers, and lead Celestica’s design team in the Storage/Server space. Although the position is primarily hardware-based, the candidate must interface with software/firmware, mechanical, thermal, layout, SI, and test teams as part of system architecture. Candidates must have strong knowledge in Server design, JBODs, and Storage controllers and subsystems, as well as implementation in Enterprise class systems and Cloud infrastructure. Experience in the implementation of x86-based design as well as knowledge in Ethernet, FC, SCSI, NVMe, SAS, and PCIe protocols is required. Experience in rack-level integration design will be a plus.Detailed Description
Define complex Storage/Server/Converged platform solutions and lead a multi-disciplined team to implementation. Ensure overall design quality metrics are met.Develop and maintain close technical relationships with suppliers/partners on product roadmaps and technologies.Lead the RFQ technical response.Deliverables include System Requirements Documents (SRD), requirement compliance assessments, and Technical proposals.Act as a primary technical interface between Celestica and our customers, particularly in technical escalation.Provide technical support to business development teams to assist in winning new business.Participate in the selection and hiring of design team resources as required.Identify and champion process improvement efforts as needed.Participate in standards committees and industry groups as assigned.Prepare and present technical presentations to customers, industry groups, tradeshows, etc.Maintain current knowledge on industry trends and future technology and market opportunities.Successful experience architecting and delivering server/storage/converged products to market.Excellent customer presentation skills; interface and interact with large OEM and end-user customers on ongoing product-related issues and new product design concepts.A broad knowledge of current digital and analogue components.Extensive knowledge of system-level power, cooling, mechanical, SW/FW, and electrical design integration and engineering trade-offs.Prior participation in industry groups and associations is strongly desired.System-level integration, interoperability, and test experience is desired.System-level manufacturing test experience is desired.The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual capable of working with minimal supervision in a dynamic team environment. Good interpersonal skills: able to communicate effectively with members of other teams, departments, and clients; a high degree of liaison is needed.Physical Demands
International travel required, approximately 4-6 trips per year.Domestic travel to support customer and internal meetings as required.Typical Experience
Minimum of 15 years server/storage hardware design experience.Minimum of 8 years of server/storage experience at the system level.Typical Education
