The Garver Water Team is looking for an experienced

Startup & Commissioning Specialist

to oversee the startup of water and wastewater facilities nationwide. The successful candidate will manage the commissioning and startup activities for various water and wastewater projects, from final construction stages on through to project closeout. This role involves leading diverse startup projects, guiding testing and commissioning teams, building and maintaining excellent client relationships, participating in industry activities and events, and contributing to the growth and development of the team through mentorship. Garver, an established and rapidly growing engineering consulting firm, offers a rich, dynamic, and collaborative teamwork environment.This position may include a variety of projects related to:Water, wastewater, and reuse treatment facilitiesWells, pumping facilities, and storageImprovements to, and retrofitting of, existing water and wastewater infrastructure facilitiesResponsibilities may include, but not limited to the following:

Display technical competency of water or wastewater operations and maintenancePerform operational risk assessments for new and existing water and wastewater treatment facilitiesConcurrently manage multiple startup projectsBe responsible for time management and work product qualityConduct written and oral project reporting for clientsPrepare and execute Quality Assurance and Quality Control PlansFacilitate and lead internal and external project workshopsBe an active learner responsible for continuing education and learning based on project requirements, as well as overall needs of the teamProvide construction management assistance, as neededPeriodic travel will be required on an as-needed basis for projects, conferences, marketing, and other duties.Professional and career development while attending industry conferences as a subject matter expert on behalf of Garver and the Water Business Line.Facilitate utility stakeholder engagement activitiesInterface with regulatory agencies, as requiredManage quality assurance and risk management activitiesProgress tracking and communicationsOversee and manage owner training activitiesCoordinate startup and commissioning tasks and participate in acceptance testing for a variety of systems including package systems, process control systems, and SCADA systemsAssist with detailed project delivery assumption, scope of work, level of effort, and associated man-hour estimatesRequirements

5+ years of water and/or wastewater technical project operations or engineering experienceExperience in reading and interpreting treatment facility design drawings, including I&C and electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, specifications, and engineering systems shop drawings.Preferred Skills

Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET accredited program10+ years of water and/or wastewater technical project operations or engineering experienceRegistered as a Professional Engineer (PE)Previous experience having been in responsible charge of facility startups and commissioning and management level treatment plant operationsStrong understanding of multi-disciplined engineering practices (i.e., treatment process, mechanical, treatment chemical feed systems, electrical, instrumentation and control) required for the startup and commissioning of water and wastewater facilities.Grow With Us
