Reporting to the Technical Production Manager, the

Opera Stage Manager

provides a professional and safe performance environment to the Peabody Institute students, faculty, staff, patrons, and guests. This is a casual/as-needed position; hours are flexible and include daytime and evenings and weekends as appropriate to the staffing needs of the department.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesManages rehearsal/tech including production timekeeping.Prepares call script and runs show.Sends out rehearsal and performance reports to appropriate personnel.Maintains a working list of all show needs, props, scenery, costumes, etc., and communicates needs to appropriate personnel.Identifies crew needs for shows and helps staff from students as needed.Mentors student ASMs and ADs as needed.Works in close partnership with the Opera Coordinator, the Technical Production Manager, and other members of the production team, conductors, artistic directors, and students to support the event production, audio-visual, sound, and curricular needs of the school in order to achieve an excellent production and a quality learning opportunity.Performs other duties as assigned.Special Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to read music.Professional demeanor, superior communication skills, comfort in high-pressure situations, adaptable, solutions-oriented problem solver.Demonstrated organizational skills with proven ability to effectively prioritize workload.Ability to work long hours and nontraditional shifts: evenings and weekends due to performance schedule.Physical RequirementsAbility to walk, stand, climb for extended periods.Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Production (theatrical or event).Three years related experience.Additional experience may substitute for required education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Preferred QualificationsThree years technical experience in opera stage management, production, or related field.Experience calling shows from a score.Classified Title: Stage CoordinatorJob Posting Title (Working Title): Opera Stage ManagerRole/Level/Range: ACRO37.5/03/CDStarting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY ($30.00 HRLY targeted; Commensurate with experience)Employee group: Casual / On CallSchedule: variable, up to 987 per yearExempt Status: Non-ExemptLocation: Peabody InstituteDepartment name: Production ServicesPersonnel area: Peabody
