OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY
Fox Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week.
JOB DESCRIPTIONIf you love breaking news, creating compelling multi-platform content, and great storytelling, KRIV, the Fox O&O in Houston, has the perfect position for you. We're looking for a talented and passionate photographer-editor who can shoot and edit in the field. Must be a self-starter, able to handle live breaking news events, work well under pressure, and collaborate with other content creators in the newsroom while maintaining all legal and journalistic standards.
The position requires the ability to complete tasks with a quick turnaround for traditional linear newscasts in addition to digital platforms such as our FOX Local Streaming App, Fox26.com, and social media sites. Must have familiarity with various transmission technologies including cellular backpack technology (such as Live U), microwave, and news satellite trucks. Knowledge of non-linear editing software, Edius or a similar platform, is required. You may be required to set up live remotes independently and complete other assignments as necessary. Good writing skills are a plus.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in journalism or related field preferred.
Experience as a photographer-editor in a medium to large market preferred.
Familiarity with newsroom computer systems.
Ability to travel as required.
Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
Must be able to work flexible hours; early mornings, late nights, weekends, overnights, and holidays as required.
Must have a valid driver's license.
