BL has 17 offices and is expanding.Our employee owners are capable of being successful working in hybrid environments, and we are now offering opportunities to continue in this setting.We are seeking a highly experienced, self-motivated Project/Senior Scientist to grow and expand our Natural Resources presence in the area.The selected candidate will have a bachelor's or master’s degree in natural sciences or environmental science, having a minimum of 8+ years’ experience in the successful completion and/or management of multiple large complex projects related to wetland delineation, stream assessments, ecological and endangered species assessments, and wetland mitigation design and construction. This highly qualified individual should possess demonstrated experience in the development of market growth plans for multi-market sectors including land development, industrial, infrastructure, energy, and telecom. The ideal candidate will have existing key business relations in those markets and demonstrated experience in business development.Professional experience should include, but not be limited to: demonstrated knowledge in various aspects of environmental permitting and compliance; wetland delineation, soil identification, ecological and endangered species assessments, performance of Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Studies (EIS) as associated with NEPA projects, along with experience mentoring and managing junior staff. Significant experience with the Corps of Engineers Knoxville Region and regulators in Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama is a strong plus.Key Responsibilities:Extensive knowledge of applicable wetlands, permitting, mitigation, and regulations as well as NEPA screening tools.Provide expert technical guidance and be recognized as a regional resource to regulatory agency personnel.Advanced report and permit writing skills.Detailed understanding of regulatory requirements and limitations to apply during natural resources data analysis.Establish and develop strategic long-term relationships with current clients, new clients, and prospective teaming partners.Keep informed of overall business trends within the environmental market, including local, regional, national, and international.Identify potential clients for key target environmental initiatives and develop strategies to grow those initiatives.Mentor internal resources in their day-to-day work of data collection and reduction; design; and technical report writing.Collaborate with senior management to identify and develop strategic plans for regional markets to capitalize on local presence and regional access.Required Experience:Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in Biological or Environmental Sciences from an accredited college or university.Minimum 8+ years of experience in the environmental - natural resources field.Demonstrated business development success required.CPSS Certification preferred.Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification preferred.Supervisory experience preferred.
