How You'll Perform The Role
This position will develop, design and support automation solutions for our manufacturing operations throughout Novolex. The position will also work with and coordinate with outside vendors to develop automation solutions in order to meet business unit needs and timelines.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement automation solutions
Manage multiple, concurrent automation projects with independent critical milestone activities
Develop cost estimates, justifications, and schedules for automation projects
Develop equipment and installation specifications
Develop safety criteria for automated systems as needed
Develop bid requests for automated equipment and services
Track and manage automation project spending budgets
Work closely with outside automation vendors on developing solutions along with our OEMs.
Provide technical expertise to plant and corporate personnel on automation solutions.
Evaluate the condition and performance of existing plant automation equipment.
Incorporate personnel safety in all aspects of system designs.
Function as a change agent in the implementation of new automation technology and systems.
Communicate verbally and in written form to internal and external resources.
What We Need From You
Bachelor’s Degree (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related Technical Discipline).
5-10+ years of relevant experience in automation design and implementation for manufacturing environment preferred.
Strong mechanical design capabilities preferred, electrical and manufacturing process skills/experience.
Must have experience design and implementation of automation systems from end of line packaging to full pallet loading systems.
Analytical skills and understanding of problem solving techniques/tools.
Data-driven, disciplined, objective and detail oriented.
Strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to act as a business partner, “see the big picture,” and work through ambiguity and change.
Must be proficient in 3D AutoCAD (Inventor) along with other design platforms will be considered.
Advanced computer knowledge with MS Office applications (Excel, Access, etc.) and other computer tools required.
Must be willing to travel 75% of each work week to the company’s manufacturing sites to support projects and initiatives.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
International travel could be required, valid passport required.
Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screen.
