The People Business Partner - Human Resources Manager is an advisor and thought partner with leaders and team members at our Portillo’s Food Service (PFS) facilities and Restaurant Support Center (RSC). The PBP plays a key role in talent development and planning for the company and utilizes critical thinking to provide key insights to their partners. They collaborate with their partners to develop leaders that achieve best in class results while modeling our Portillo’s values of Family, Greatness, Energy, and Fun. This role will lead change and ensure all programs enable our company Purpose, Values, business strategy and are effective in attracting, selecting, engaging, and retaining key talent. This is a collaborative role that will work cross-functionally with our PFS facilities and various support center departments to understand business issues and collectively develop effective solutions. Responsible for the implementation, planning, and support of all People initiatives to include talent acquisition, DEI&B, learning, development, performance management, compensation, benefits, engagement, communications, labor relations, regulatory and compliance practices.

Core Responsibilities:Enable our Purpose to create lifelong memories by igniting the senses with unrivaled food and experiences:Provide strategic counsel, feedback, and creative solutions on broad ranging issues including but not limited to people development, performance management, communications, engagement, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, compliance, promotion process, talent retention and all Team Member related actions that enhance individual and organizational growth and superior performance.Work closely with business leaders to help create, implement, and manage the people strategies to align with business strategies and objectives.Collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement management practices with company values in mind to ensure organizational effectiveness, clear communication, sound Team Member relations, and training and development of team members.

Family:Build and retain strong relationships with the business partners including food service and support center leadership.Work with cross-functional teams to evaluate and implement a best-in-class memorable candidate and Team Member experience that reflects our Purpose and Values.Visit PFS locations and support center. Specific focus to include staffing, scheduling, onboarding, training, performance, Team Member engagement, career development, and compliance.Partner with People Team Leadership, Plant Management, and support center leadership to develop plans to address short- and long-term talent needs for the organization.Respond to team member and manager requests for assistance on issues relating to policy interpretation, Team Member conflict, employment law, benefit administration, and other areas managed by the People Team function.

Greatness:Work systematically to diagnose problems, organize and analyze data, identify root causes, understand trends, and recommend solutions for People related business issues.Identify and work with talent management team in performance process and management improvements. Ensure programs and processes are executed.Educate, coach, and develop leadership capability while incorporating company values for leaders and stakeholders across all levels, functions, and geographies to lead organizational change.Participate in business leadership meetings as a strategic partner to identify Team Member impact (development, Team Member Relations, compensation, talent management, and performance management) relative to business strategies.Provide consultation, support, and guidance to Sr. Manager, PBP and CPO on talent matters, succession planning, sourcing, placement of talent or bench and compensation, benefits, compliance matters.Maintain an understanding of business unit objectives and costing, partnering with departmental stakeholders to drive results through our people. Actively look for opportunities to increase business acumen to better support the business unit.

Energy:Work with communications team and respective departments to ensure effective Team Member communication strategies to ensure that Team Members understand the company’s policies, practices, benefits, and values.Drive, influence, and implement People strategies to include DEI&B that support and align with business requirements.Identify, support, develop and lead change strategy throughout the Support Center and Portillo’s Food Service organizations.Direct, supervise and coordinate rollouts and ongoing implementation of company programs in all areas where Team Members are impacted.Provide advice and counsel to leaders in all areas of HR and related policies, procedures, laws, standards, and programs. Seek partnership as needed. Work with respective departments as new laws and regulations occur.

Fun:Guide and oversee leadership in performing talent evaluation and succession planning for the Support Center and Portillo’s Food Service capability, manage performance, while retaining and growing talent.Collaborate with other support center groups to process promotions and align on total rewards packages. Educate leaders on compensation practices and benefits programs.Partner as needed with Leadership, Team Member Relations, and LOA Administrator on matters of coaching, counseling, performance improvement disciplinary action, leaves, and accommodations.Support leaders as they grow with the organization through training, coaching, and relocation processes.Work with talent acquisition team to develop, monitor, and educate field leadership on recruiting strategy, sourcing tactics and selection process to improve the flow, quality, and selection of job candidates.Facilitate and/or oversee training of new company programs, People courses, and other initiatives as needed.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS:This position reports to the Senior Manager, People Business Partner. The role advises the Director of Plant Operations, Plant Managers, and leaders at the Restaurant Support Center as their direct business partner. The People Business Partner interacts with executive and senior leadership, other People leaders, as well as Legal, Operations, Compensation, Recruiting, Benefits, Payroll and Accounting/Finance, Marketing, HRIS, and Information Technology.

Qualifications:Educational Level/Certifications:Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.One or more of the following certificates/credentials are recommended:PHR/SPHRSHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP

Work Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Fluent in English and Spanish.Manufacturing and/or food production, warehouse, distribution experience; multi-unit experience.3+ years of people management experience.8+ years of related experience of progressive general HR experience including talent management/succession planning, team member relations, compliance, compensation, benefits, and training.Labor relations experience strongly preferred.Ability to maintain highly confidentiality information.Build relationships by establishing connections at all levels to build trust, share ideas and accomplish work.Strong developer of talent by leveraging strengths, setting expectations, encouragement, and coaching.Inspires others by setting a vision, creates confidence and challenges the team to deliver their best work.Holds self and others responsible for performance through consistent and fair accountability.Leads change aligned with our purpose, values, and strategic plan.Excellent leadership with a track record of developing and maintaining high performing teams.

Listens, shares information concisely with purpose and be open to others perspective through communication skills; includes ability to present in a concise and engaging way.Proficient in use of Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point and HRIS Software.

Travel Requirement:

May travel up to 60% of the time to the production facilities in Aurora and Addison.
