The Azure Key Vault team is responsible for key and secrets management for Microsoft products. The service enables Azure customers to encrypt data at rest, provision and auto-rotate TLS certificates, and securely manage credentials for resource access. The service operates at cloud scale with 99.99 availability. The team is under the Identity division in Microsoft’s Security organization and is responsible for ensuring customers trust Microsoft’s cloud platform.

We’re looking to hire a Principal Software Engineer who wants to apply their experience and skills to create something that our business and customers need. You’ll have a meaningful and visible impact on security and reliability of services across Microsoft. You’ll lead your team to make product and technology decisions. Responsibilities

Work on the core of Azure, building and securing the foundation of the cloud itself. Work across Azure to seamlessly integrate our service with partner teams, Azure product offerings, and our customers’ cloud infrastructure.Mentor and grow developers on the team, create an environment where you and your team can do its best work, and influence and impact others through your results and collaboration.Develop and execute on a technical strategy for delivering new service capabilities.Guide the team to build intuitive and responsive user and developer experiences.Be responsible for technical design, implementation and quality of features and engineering systems.Interact and collaborate with partner teams to deliver cohesive, easy to use solutions for the Azure platform.Build on our Microsoft principles (create clarity, generate energy, deliver success) and values (respect, integrity, accountability) to effectively collaborate and make things happen.Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.2+ years of professional experience leading a team of software engineers as a People Manager or Tech Lead.3+ years of professional experience building, running and maintaining highly resilient, distributed cloud services.Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python 6+ years of experience building, running and maintaining highly resilient, distributed cloud services.Experience designing and building customer facing features for enterprise scenarios.Experience working across teams and divisions, communicating technical details clearly across organizational boundaries and with a history of building partnerships between groups.Effective communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.Experience in applying microservices, serverless, event-driven, and RESTful architectures and patterns.Effective problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills, with a data-driven and customer-centric approach. Experience in identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, reliability issues, and security vulnerabilities using data-driven analysis and troubleshooting tools.Experience in applying modern software engineering practices and tools, such as Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Git, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), Unit/Integration/Automation Testing.A growth mindset, with the willingness to learn new technologies and domains.Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.Microsoft will accept applications for the role until August 30, 2024.Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
