As a Principal Java Engineer, you will help drive our insurance business transformation as we redefine the experience for our customers. Our Principal Engineer is a lead member of the engineering staff working across Business Services Engineering, Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, and Infrastructure Engineering to ensure that we provide a friction-less experience to our customers, maintain the highest standards of protection and availability.
Position Responsibilities
Focus on a few key areas and provide leadership to the engineering teamsOwn the complete solution across its entire life cycleDeliver high-quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quicklyInfluence and build vision with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems for building enterprise class business applicationsBe accountable for the quality, usability & performance of the solutionsLead in design sessions and code reviews to elevate the quality of engineering across the organizationUtilize programming languages like Java, C#, Kotlin, Python, etc. and SQL and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and servicesCoach other engineers professionally to help them realize their full potentialConsistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teamsQualifications
Fluency and Specialization with at least two modern languages such as Java, Kotlin, Python or C#, including object-oriented and functional programmingExperience building products of micro-services-oriented architecture, extensible REST APIs and utilizing open-source frameworksProficient experience with Spring Boot and other Spring projects such as Spring Data, Spring Integration, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud, etc.Experience with containers and container orchestration such as Docker, Kubernetes etc.Proficiency in building cloud native HA solutions on public cloud platforms such as AWS/GCP/AzureExperience building the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systemsExperience with event driven architectures and building event driven microservices with pub-sub/streaming technologies such as KafkaExperience with TDD/ATDD/BDDIn-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithmsStrong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent problem-solving skills and proactive in troubleshootingAbility to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environmentPractical knowledge of working in Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe)Experience
6+ years of professional software development experience within a Java framework (J2EE, web containers and Java)4+ years of experience in open-source frameworks3+ years of experience with architecture and design3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service1+ years of people management experienceEducation

$90,000.00 - $236,500.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role.
