Zurich is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to work out of our Gold River, CA Staff Legal office or fully remote anywhere in Northern California.

This Attorney will be responsible for representing the Company in all phases of Workers' Compensation litigation in Northern California. They will be practicing law in compliance with ethical standards as established by state law by preparing and defending moderate to high exposure Workers' Compensation cases from a challenging and varied caseload. Responsibilities will include working directly with claims professionals providing legal analysis and advice, preparing and filing legal pleadings and documents, performing legal research, preparing for and conducting pre-hearing discovery, preparing for and handling final hearings before workers compensation Administrative Law Judges, and conducting post-trial activities where appropriate. Under limited direction, the attorney will work within broad limits and authority on complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge in breadth and/or depth in area of expertise.

Basic Qualifications:Juris Doctor and 7 or more years of experience in the Workers' Compensation Litigation area ANDMember in good standing of the California State Bar AssociationExperience with Microsoft Office and AdobeExperience working with Lexis or WestlawExperience independently managing workers' compensation case load as lead attorneyKnowledge of the insurance defense litigation legal environment

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. The starting salary range for this position is $140,000.00 to $170,000.00.
