The University of California San Diego Library seeks motivated, creative and collaborative applicants to join the Library as the Head of the Shared Cataloging Program (SCP), a California Digital Library (CDL) Unit based in the Metadata Services Program at UC San Diego. This position will provide metadata expertise and oversight for CDL licensed or selected open access electronic collections from a wide variety of disciplines.Responsibilities of the PositionCatalogs and has primary responsibility for coordinating and supervising the Shared Cataloging Program's daily operations, including but not limited to original cataloging, copy cataloging, and batch processing of eBooks, eJournals, databases, datasets, streaming audio and video.Applies a strong understanding of the UC library system (Alma) collaborative network structure to evaluate/determine the effectiveness and efficiency of cataloging tasks.Collaborates with the CDL E-Resource Team (ERT) and SCP catalogers on managing/maintaining CDL data.Sets priorities, coordinates and manages the development and implementation of metadata strategies that support the discovery of CDL licensed and selected open access electronic collections.Serves as a representative to several UC groups to communicate and/or discuss with UC stakeholders on cataloging priorities.Supervises, trains, and sets direction for the SCP Unit metadata staff and students.Leads the unit to investigate, experiment with, and implement new approaches for creating and manipulating bibliographic data.Shares leadership, strategic direction and management responsibility for the Metadata Services Program as part of the MS Unit Heads Group.Provides intellectual leadership and contributes nationally to the development of emerging cataloging standards.Serves on Library-wide, Campus-wide, and UC System-wide committees.QualificationsBasic qualifications

(required at time of application):MLS/MLIS or equivalent advanced degree.Demonstrated working knowledge of e-book and e-serial collection packages, access, terminology, technology, and metadata.Demonstrated experience cataloging original, copy, and batch processing of bibliographic records.Demonstrated experience successfully managing staff and providing collaborative and inclusive leadership.Evidence of contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education and libraries.Preferred qualifications :Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the Alma library services platform.Demonstrated experience working in large library organizations or consortia.Application RequirementsDocument requirementsCurriculum Vitae - Your most recently updated C.V.Cover LetterStatement of Contributions to DiversityReference requirements:
