We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join a non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in full cycle accounting including accounts payable (AP) or accounts receivable (AR), bank reconciliations, month-end closing, financial statement preparation, payroll, grant accounting, and managing financial operations for multi-entity structures. This role will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).Responsibilities:Responsible for full cycle accounting, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.Manage the accounts payable OR accounts receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments.Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records.Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies.Process payroll accurately and timely, including maintaining employee records and handling payroll-related inquiries.Oversee grant accounting, including budget tracking, financial reporting, and compliance with grant requirements.Manage accounting for multiple entities within the organization, ensuring proper allocation of expenses and accurate financial reporting.Assist with property management accounting, including tracking income and expenses for low-income housing projects.Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and to support organizational goals.Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.Stay current with changes in accounting regulations and best practices relevant to non-profit organizations.Report directly to the CFO, providing regular updates on financial performance, issues, and improvements.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit organization.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.Strong understanding of AP, AR, bank reconciliation, month-end closing, financial statement preparation, payroll, and grant accounting.Experience with multi-entity accountingExperience in property management or low-income housing accounting is highly desirable.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.High level of accuracy and attention to detail.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Commitment to the mission and values of the non-profit sector.
