Sierra School of Sacramento

is a nonpublic, special education school that serves students from K - 12th grade (ages 5-22). We utilize unique education models, an effective positive behavior management system, and multiple mental health techniques to increase academic awareness, develop social skills and cultivate proper classroom behavior in each of our students. Our goal is to work along side the student to improve academic and social success so that the student can return to a least restrictive setting. Our dedicated staff and teachers are committed to the growth and safety of each student.

The Opportunity

The RBT will be responsible for working with small groups of students and the teacher to deliver individualized services and supports. They will monitor student behavior, track educational progress, and communicate with parents. Additionally, they will help reinforce the curriculum provided by the teacher. Every child deserves to reach their full potential and we're looking to hire an exceptional Assistant Teacher who will play an essential role in fueling student success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Work with students to reinforce learning of material or skill initially introduced by the teacher by assigning appropriate tasks, completing one-on-one tutorials, and implementing the SESI rotation modelAssist the Teacher with large group activities, correcting papers, supervising testing, guiding independent study or enrichment activities, providing accommodations and modifications as necessaryUtilize behavior support and intervention strategiesImplement de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and physical restraint if necessary to maintain the safety of students and staffSupport and document students' growth and progress towards academic, social, and emotional goalsSupervise students and ensure they are always monitored, including to and from appropriate locations within the schoolLight lifting, walking, and/or climbing stairs may be requiredQualifications

High School Diploma requiredCollege experience and/or Bachelor's Degree preferredExperience working with youth preferred
