JOB SUMMARY:
To provide care and maintenance of Shepaug farm including animals, greenhouses, and land use for agriscience students. To promote the ethical treatment of farm animals. To serve as a resource for the agriscience program.
QUALIFICATIONS:1.
Knowledge of large farm animals, pasture rotation, record keeping for farm care2.
Familiarity with maintaining and caring for livestock, and small animals
Includes feeding various species (horses, cattle, goats, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits, etc)Cleaning and maintaining stalls, paddock spaces, and small animal cagesTurning out various large animal species (horses, cattle goats, etc)3.
Comfortable handling, haltering, leading, and monitoring the health of various animal species4.
Observant in facilities care and be able to recognize mechanical, animal, or plant-related problems5.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds6.
Possess good communication skills and ability to follow instructions7.
Knowledge of basic first aid for various species
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
Five hours per week. (Weekdays; Monday-Friday)
