We are in search of a talented Senior Backend API Software Engineer specializing in scalable data serving via Restful APIs, and working with big data sets from various databases. This position will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and optimizing data infrastructure. You will be a key player empowering us to make data-driven SaaS applications and internal system integrations that will fuel our innovation and growth.What You’ll Do:Design and develop RESTful APIs for internal data consumers using performant API frameworks such as Python Django, NodeJS or similarEnsure optimal latency, authentication, and scalability of Spotter Data API. Follow API server best practices and standardsImplement and maintain backend transactional databases and document stores, ensuring data integrity and consistencyWork closely with the data engineering team to understand existing datasets that need to be queried via API endpointsWork with various database systems (Postgres, Elastic Search, DynamoDB, CockroachDB, vector databases, data warehouses) and data lake technologies, applying optimization techniques for scalable queriesExplore new scalable solutions to meet our growing needsWork with product engineering team to learn about the upcoming needsBenchmark existing solutions periodically to ensure low latency, make recommendations when neededWho You Are:Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar technical or engineering discipline7+ years of software engineering experience specializing in backend servicesProficient with Python (Django) to serve large scale datasetsExperience running software and services in the cloudProficiency with SQL on RDBMS and data warehouse solutions like RedshiftProficiency with maintaining fault tolerant systems in productionAdvanced knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or AzureAdditional Valued Skills:Experience with YouTube APIs and YouTube/video performance dataExperience with data acquisition from external APIs at large scale / in parallel processingExperience with Data-Lake technologiesExperience with vector databasesExperience with AWS Glue metastoreExperience with Data-Mesh approachesExperience with data cataloging, data lineage and data governance tools and approachesWhy Spotter:Medical and vision insurance covered up to 100%Dental insurance401(k) matchingStock optionsComplimentary gym accessAutonomy and upward mobilityDiverse, equitable, and inclusive culture, where your voice matters.In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in Culver City. The overall market range for roles in this area of Spotter are typically: $100K-$500K salary per year. The range listed is just one component of Spotter’s total compensation package for employees.
