We want people to live longer, healthier lives and are committed to creating the tools to enable preventive healthcare, starting with at-home health monitoring solutions and daily access to health data.Job opportunityTitle: Sr. Mechanical EngineerCommitment: Full-time (Salary + equity)Location: Newport Beach, CA (up to 90% remote schedule)Overview:As a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Çava Seat 1 category, you will be responsible for taking the products through various stages of new product introduction (NPI) development by working cross-functionally across multiple teams. In addition to early involvement with product design team on design for manufacturability, you will also be evaluating manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; and conferring with equipment vendors. You will be driving design for excellence (DFX) to improve process and assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering3 years of experience with consumer hardware product designMechanical lead for a program or major sub-assembly on a shipping consumer hardware productExperience with machine shop, 3D printing and other rapid prototyping toolsDemonstrated ability to test and debug mechanical prototypesExperience with computer-aided design (CAD) tools50 days of onsite support of validation builds at manufacturing facilities (E.g., Asia contract manufacturers)Experience with design of plastic and metal components, assemblies with integrated printed circuit boards, flexible printed circuitsExperience working directly with Industrial Design and Electrical Engineering teamsAbility to work independently, document work, highlighting key updates, risks and schedules to broader teamPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related fieldExperience with structural, thermal and fluid FEAExperience with plastic tooling design and Moldflow analysisManufacturing fixture design and process developmentProduct reliability test development and analysis of resultsElectrical cable and connector designDesigning for waterproofing (E.g., IP67)Experience with electrical sensor and display integrationProduct quality: Evaluation of FAI/Cpk reports, yield projections and cosmetic reviewExpertise in tolerance analysis (RSS method)Data analysis using JMP or MinitabResponsibilities:Design and manage mechanical development of a consumer hardware productSupport prototype development platforms for sensors and fluid/heating systemsWork with Industrial Design team to take an ID model and create 3D and 2D detailed drawings for individual parts and assembliesMaintain an updated Bill of Materials (BOM) and revision controlWork with global manufacturing suppliers for individual part manufacturing and final assembly process/proceduresReview/OK DFM’s (Design for Manufacturability) from suppliersOnsite/remote build support during validation builds and mass production
