Major Responsibilities:Displays competent understanding of patient positioning and image critique

1) Ability to competently position patients for all exams2) Perform problem solving as it relates to physical limitations of patient during patient positioning3) Competent to perform image reviews to determine if more views are necessary to complete the exam4) Ability to select and adjust technical factors governing the imaging process5) Ability to identify artifacts on film and assist in problem solving6) Has minimum amount of repeat work7) Annual Competencies8) Able to efficiently communicate normal and abnormal anatomy that is captured on scans to the Radiologist9) Ability to properly utilize appropriate immobilization techniques

Operations, Equipment, and Safety

1) Ability to operate all equipment in a competent manner. Able to modify technical factors as situation warrants2) Able to set up and use appropriate coil. Able to follow appropriate scanning protocol per Radiologist3) Able to perform start-up and shut down procedures on all equipment. Ensures that images are labeled and marked correctly4) Inspects equipment on a daily basis during use. Reports any malfunctions to leader. If leader is unavailable, contacts proper company for repairs, if needed.5) Performs problem solving as situations warrant; i.e., equipment malfunction, and physical limitations of equipment. Handles all equipment with care6) Utilize appropriate safety standards while working in or around an area of high magnetic field strength7) Educate other staff about MRI safety and the potential dangers when working in or around an area of high magnetic field strength8) Ensure that MRI screening procedures are followed according to departmental policy and procedure9) Operate all equipment in a safe manner according to manufacturer's guidelines and recommendations10) Attends mandatory in-services

Patient Care

1) Responsible for the welfare and care of all patients directly under their control, i.e. implementation of immobilization devices necessary for patient safety and comfort2) Secures history from patients and records appropriately3) Ability to access vein for the purpose of injecting IV contrast according to department and clinic policy4) Administers contrast material as indicated by requisition5) Ability to recognize contraindications and respond appropriately to adverse reaction to oral or IV contrast6) Documents allergic reactions according to department protocol7) Ability to evaluate each MRI order for appropriateness using ACR Appropriateness Criteria

PACS/EMR/Other Software

1) Demonstrates the ability to arrive, begin, and end studies in the EMR2) Demonstrates the ability to utilize modality work list/or select patient in modality, acquire, and send images from modality to PACS3) Demonstrates the ability to log in to PACS and retrieve the appropriate study4) Carries out the QC process in PACS5) Selects the correct buttons for prior exams and availability6) Determines if pertinent priors are available in PACS7) Ensures the image link is available and working in the EMR8) Notifies PACS Administrator or assistant of any issues that they are not able to resolve9) General trouble shooting i.e., splitting, merging, changing accession number, etc10) Knows how to use iPad

1) Attends and participates in department meetings2) Maintains required amount of CME's3) Maintains current ARRT certification4) Participates in problem solving that would improve quality for modality, department, or clinic5) Maintains CPR certification6) Provides direction and instruction to new staff, students, and staff in need of assistance7) Contributes to performance goals of department8) Complete Required Classes through ALEX

Other duties

1) Stocks rooms as needed2) Assists others as needed3) Participates in patient education4) Performs QC/QA and notifies leader when testing has exceeded boundaries5) Acting Flexibly to rotate through workstations and shifts to provide coverage as warranted6) Other duties as assigned
