As a

Senior R&D Chemist , you will be responsible for a variety of functions related to formulation and consumer acceptability of products with the NCS portfolio. There will be heavy focus on new product development and bringing a competitive edge to NCS.

Job Duties

Work closely with product management to understand the voice of customer to develop new formulations while working closely with manufacturing to ensure we bring quality, innovative products to the market.Work closely with Supply Chain to identify raw materials that bring competitive advantage and manufacturability with a safety and quality mindset.Formulate chemical products to meet internal ingredient standards and launch deadlines according to industry practices for safety, scientific significance, accuracy and recordkeeping.Conduct appropriate performance testing to benchmarks when identified to ensure proper functionality and premium performance.Optimize formulation ingredients to manage costs and availability of ingredients for intended function.Monitor stability testing, including first production run stabilities, and maintain records thoroughly and concisely.Prepare samples and track documentation for micro-challenge testing and toxicological testing. Coordinate outside testing with appropriate resources.Meet with chemical suppliers to stay aware of new raw materials and the possible second sourcing of raw materials to meet cost objectives.Review competitive product and prepare technical reports with data from standardized comparative tests.Investigate new raw materials and technologies through laboratory experimentation, record findings and suggest applications.Assist the technical team on field support questions of a technical nature related to quality, product ingredients, product usage and possible adverse reactions.Assist in training sales personnel in new product launches prior to ship dates.Follow general lab safety guidelines and maintain clean, orderly work area.Manage lab database to keep current and organized.Assist in problem-solving activities and perform lab evaluations on new and existing products.Work with Engineers, Quality Control, Analytical Services, and others, and external persons such as vendors, (potential) customers, 3rd party manufacturing.Conduct field evaluations regarding formulations, raw materials, finished products, product applications, upscaling of manufacturing and packaging of new, existing, and experimental products.Review research literature, technical reports, periodicals, competitor product literature, vendor reports and literature regarding the specialty chemical industry, research findings, product specifications and formulations, and the general chemical industry community and body of knowledge.Gather empirical data from Quality Control, Technical Services, and other sources for establishing Product Development specifications for new raw materials and products, and for enhancements of existing products and procedures.Comply with all applicable OSHA, EPA, local regulatory laws, and company safety policies.Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time.Qualifications

Four-year degree in Chemistry, Biology or other related science required. PhD strongly preferred.5-7 years of applicable work experience in liquid chemical solutions research and development.Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.High attention to detail and accuracy.High degree of creativity and demonstrated problem solving.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), SAP and Adobe software applications.Physical Requirements
