Senior Data Scientist , you will be a senior member within our Advanced Analytics team, responsible for spearheading advanced NLP initiatives, driving innovation, and providing strategic direction in natural language processing and machine learning. With a focus on research, development, and implementation of cutting-edge NLP solutions, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our NLP roadmap, mentoring team members, and delivering transformative projects that elevate our products and services to new heights. This position helps build, manage & deploy Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning & NLP based solutions. In addition, this role is within Banner’s cloud data platform (Databricks on AWS) and will focus on advancing the AI/ML based Advanced Analytical Capabilities across the organization’s venues of care.In this role as

Senior Data Scientist , you will be responsible for supporting the Advanced Analytics Team as part of the Data Platform Transformation initiative. You will lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced NLP algorithms and models for complex applications, including text classification, sentiment analysis, entity recognition, and information extraction.The typical schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

This includes working with large databases and applying quantitative methodologies using advanced analytical tools. This position proactively identifies new opportunities for the organization to improve on, using advanced scientific approaches and methods. Performs substantive, comprehensive, and quantitative analyses to produce data-driven solutions and recommendations to position the company competitively relative to outcomes, operations, and profitability. Provides some mentorship and training to peers within immediate team and other teams across the organization. This position will work with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams to improve business outcomes.CORE FUNCTIONS1. Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve services, processes, or products.2. Solves complex problems. Monitors and controls costs of own work and may manage budgets for moderate sized projects or programs.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge typically obtained with a Master’s degree in the field of Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Health Services Research, Process Engineering, Business or related field.A minimum of seven years of hands-on experience or equivalent with inferential statistics, A/B testing, machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis techniques in a healthcare or similar environment. Must have experience in working with cross-functional departments in order to serve as a liaison and provide relevant guidance or leadership. Must have strong project management skills and ability to work independently, manage large and multiple projects while organizing priorities. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills are required. Must have strong technical skills (SQL, SAS, Tableau, etc.). Must have knowledge of advanced data science methods; examples include prescriptive, cognitive algorithms, big data analytics, commercial and open-source Hadoop, data-mining, Python, “R”, machine learning, or NLP.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of subject matters such as process optimization, clinical workflows, population health, public health, disease prediction, re-admissions, imaging analytics, and in/out-patient monitoring and alerting is preferred.
