SUPERVISOR, DRAGON RECOVERY OPERATIONS, LONG BEACH

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead a team of recovery technicians dedicated to Dragon Recovery operations and responsible for the overall success of cargo and crew recovery missionsCoordinate personnel and support for Dragon recovery and other operations as neededRecruit, hire, train, develop and evaluate techniciansInteract with other departments, vendors and external agencies to arrange support, meet requirements and achieve successAssure regulatory compliance, personnel safety, security and mission readinessMaintain AS9100 work area including maintenance and documentation of calibrated tools, certified rigging and ground support equipmentOversee maintenance of recovery and marine systems including descaling, painting, lubrication and cleaningLead and participate in Dragon recovery training operations, mission execution, and vehicle processingParticipate in other recovery operations as required including but not limited to Falcon and Starship recovery operationsImprove upon operations, making them less expensive, faster, safer, more efficient, and reliableOversee the processing of flight hardware while ensuring quality, workmanship and adherence to applicable specifications and work instructionsManage administrative responsibilities such as timecards, time off requests, personnel qualifications and team organizational tasks

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalency certificate3+ years of experience as an engineer, fabricator, mechanic, technician or operations lead3+ years of experience with testing and troubleshooting mechanical, fluids or electrical systems (high or low voltage)3+ years of experience in a leadership role

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in an engineering fieldAbility to work on offshore vessels at sea for extended durations without access to emergency services or facilities available on shoreWilling to work in extreme outdoor environments including heat, cold, rain, wind and open oceanWilling to train, lead operations and work with toxic and flammable chemicalsWork performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noiseExperience leading high performing teamsExperience with lean manufacturing principlesExperience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)Experience with enterprise resource planning and management softwareExperience in creating and developing work authorization documents, job hazard assessments and test plansExperience working in self-contained atmospheric protective ensemble (SCAPE), LEVEL A hazmat suit, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), hardline respirator and other HAZMAT PPEExperience with hypergolic fluids systemsExperience operating forklifts, cranes, heavy equipment and riggingExperience with rocket launch and recovery operationsExperience with offshore operationsPast work experience, internships, or projects involving aerospace vehicles/payloads, automotive, aircraft, or marine systemsCreative, innovative, and self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and communication skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Willing to travel >50% for the first year to train at Cape CanaveralAbility to work in a fast pace, high-stress environmentPosition may require long hours (10-12+ hour days) and weekend workAbility to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and VandenbergAbility to pass a self-contained atmospheric protective ensemble (SCAPE) physical fitness testMust have a valid driver's license

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Supervisor: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00/per yearYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
