Veterinary Technician Specialist

to join our

Anesthesia

A Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) is a specialized veterinary technician practicing at the top of their certification in their chosen specialty. A VTS exhibits clinical excellence, independence, and leadership in their specialty and department. This role will involve working alongside and under the direction of a board-certified anesthesiologist in managing ASA I-V(E) cases, including the most critical patients in the hospital. Responsibilities of a VTS may range to include working with a variety of anesthetic techniques, helping to develop anesthesia protocols, and managing adverse events.

Qualifications:

Minimum of three years of clinical experience as a CVT/ RVT/ LVT

Credentialed as a VTS in Anesthesia & Analgesia by AVTAA (or interested in pursuing)

Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and active listening skills

The ability to think critically, work well under pressure, and manage problems with autonomy

Outstanding communication skills to promote effective clinical training, client communication, and team building

Strong leadership skills

Interest in teaching and training technicians

Works well in a dynamic team to promote a positive culture

Compensation:$35-42/hr based on experience and skill level.

Responsibilities:

Generate anesthetic protocols in conjunction with the anesthesiologist

Perform basic to advanced anesthesia and sedation, including the use of intravenous anesthetics and the performance of local and regional analgesic and anesthetic techniques

Facilitate and be comfortable with basic and advanced CPR techniques

Ability to work with and without direct supervision

Be involved with the oversight of equipment maintenance, calibration, and repair

Demonstrate exceptional patient advocacy

Promote patient and personnel safety

Foster a culture of learning and transparency

Demonstrate leadership that fosters a culture of continuous development within the technician/nursing care team

Assist in training staff members in various anesthetic skills

Cross-train to assist in other areas of the hospital as needed

Perform on-call duties as assigned

Other duties as assigned
