In addition to performing procedures, the Lead technologist is responsible for coordinating patient scheduling and daily work assignments and serves as a resource for the Imaging technologists.Responsibilities

Coordinates day to day technologist activities (25%)Coordinates and organizes the patient flow throughout the department, prioritizing and shifting workloads as needed. May be assigned to work at a variety of locations and cover an unexpected shift.Keeps the Mammography department staff informed on system and/or operation changes.Assists with staff development (25%)Trains and orients all new hires.Conducts on the job training as needed.Consults with the Breast Imaging Supervisor in the evaluation of skill development and quality of work produced by new technologists.Responsible to round and meet with staff.Assists with interviews and provides input for annual performance appraisals.Works closely with the Radiologist and Breast Imaging Supervisor to develop and implement policies and procedures.Monitors and ensures staff compliance with policies and procedures.Identifies opportunities for innovation and quality improvement; participates in innovation projects and the quality improvement process.Performs day to day Lead Mammography Technologist imaging duties (50%)Under minimal supervision, performs Mammography procedures as requested by a physician to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.Available to assist team with questions regarding patient care, procedures, or equipment.Provides documentation and reports on equipment and supply needs, physician requests, complaints and routine operational issues.Maintains a high level of technical proficiency regarding system management, advanced applications and current applications of the modality.Troubleshoots equipment or procedure problems with appropriate follow-up to service engineers.Attends regularly scheduled department meetings and in-services to maintain working knowledge of changes in equipment and protocols.Works with department Manager/Breast Imaging Supervisor to maintain ACR accreditation for Mammography.Works with department Manager/Breast Imaging Supervisor to ensure MQSA standards are maintained and participates in all MQSA inspections as needed.Assists as needed with the monthly, quarterly and yearly MQSA data, including the Equipment QA/QC.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications

License / Registration / CertificationMaintains ARRT and IEMA licensure/certifications and ongoing CEUs for professional development on a timely basis.Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.Level of EducationAssociates Degree.Years of Experience5 years Mammography Experience.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESOral, listening and written communication skills.Strong human relation skills to interact effectively and collaborate with others in difficult situations.Ability to effectively motivate and lead others.Self-motivated & directed with regard to an increasing level of understanding and knowledge.
