StudentNest Inc. is looking to hire Mentor(s) in the San Francisco area.
Schedule: Weekdays and/or weekends
afternoon and evening
10-20 hours per week
Rate of Pay: $22.00-27.00
based on experience
Summary:
Youth/Young Adult Mentors act as supportive guides for young people (typically ages for youth, 13-16 and for young adults, 17-24) as they transition into adulthood. Mentors build trusting relationships with their mentees, offering encouragement, guidance, and a safe space to explore dreams and navigate challenges. Through mentorship, young adults gain the confidence and skills they need to succeed in college, career, and personal life.
Responsibilities:
Develop a positive and trusting relationship with your assigned youth/young adult mentee
Be a supportive role model and source of encouragement
Assist your mentee in identifying and achieving personal and professional goals
Help your mentee develop important life skills, such as communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and financial literacy
Offer guidance on navigating college applications, career exploration, or independent living (as needed)
Participate in fun and engaging activities that align with your mentee's interests
Maintain open communication with program staff and mentee's guardians (when applicable)
Attend mentor training workshops (as required)
Qualifications:
Passion for working with youth/young adults
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build trust and rapport with young people
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by youth/young adults
Experience in a relevant field (e.g., education, career counseling) (preferred)
Commitment to confidentiality
Reliable transportation (may be required)
