Job Summary

Plan and teach preschool classes for 2's and 3-4's, through science, art, literacy, and sensory activities. Engage children in social, cognitive, and language skills in a fun play-based class. Maintain a safe and stimulating class environment with age-appropriate group activities and games. Science, weather, art, story-time, and circle-time part of the weekly curriculum. Must enjoy working with preschool age children.

Hours of Work: This is a school year program starting Wednesday, Sept. 11th 9:15am-12:00pm. Additional hours may be offered for other daytime preschool programs as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Good verbal, written, and telephone communication skills are required.

Ability to interact courteously with the public to acknowledge both compliments and complaints.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Demonstrated good judgement in problem solving and responding to customer needs.

Proficiency in standard computer software, such as Microsoft Office Suite applications Word, Excel and Outlook.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

One year of experience working with preschool/youth.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have or be able to obtain first aid/CPR certification by start date.

Must successfully complete a thorough background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.

Work Conditions & Physical Activities: Work is performed in an indoor setting at the North Kirkland Community Center with high levels of noise. Must be able to walk, climb, bend, and stoop to complete tasks.
