In La Jolla, we are dedicated to the development of oncology agents that disrupt cancer biology or redirect the immune system against cancer cells.The Systems Biology team plays a vital role in this mission through enabling the discovery and molecular understanding of antibody-drug conjugates and small-molecule therapeutics. We are seeking a researcher with general cell biology and mass spectrometry laboratory experience.As a Proteomics Scientist within the Systems Biology team, your research will drive a deeper understanding of drug targets through profiling tumor associated antigen (TAA) abundance in normal and tumor tissues, assessing proteome specificity degraders and degrader-antibody conjugates, and investigation of drug mechanism-of-action through mapping interactomes and post-translational modifications. The successful candidate will participate on project teams, providing insight and technical expertise required for project progression. The individual will also work closely with the Medicinal Chemistry, Protein Engineering, and Oncology Biology groups to innovate and develop the next-generation of therapies.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare samples from cell lines and tissues for proteomic studiesDevelop and optimize protocols. Analyze and summarize results from western blot and mass spectrometry studies.Participate on multi-disciplinary project teams, including developing experimental plans and communication of resultsLearn and apply state-of-the-art chemical biology technologies for target engagement and interactome mapping.Advance expertise and group technologies through participation in working groups, conferences, and training coursesBASIC QUALIFICATIONSB.S. degree with 5+ years’ research experience in the fields of biology, biochemistry, or similar.Experience with mammalian cell culture and mass spectrometry.Experience with gel electrophoresis, western blotting/WES, plate-based assays, and/or protein quantification.Excellent record keeping and attention to detail.The ability to work in a fast-paced matrix-team environment.Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSM.S. degree with 3+ years' research experiencePrior proteomics experience with a TOF or Orbitrap utilizing DIA with label-free quantitation, or DDA with TMT.Experience with mass spec maintenance and QC, automated sample preparation (Bravo AssayMAP, Kingfisher), global proteomic profiling, immunoprecipitation mass spectrometry (IP-MS), and enrichment proteomics (surface, membrane, phosphoproteomics).Contributions on scientific publicationsFamiliarity with drug discovery and oncologyAdditional Information:Eligible for Employee ReferralWork Location Assignment: On PremiseLast Day to Apply: August 23, 2024The annual base salary for this position ranges from $74,900.00 to $124,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
