UCC desires an experienced professional, driven and willing to lead a growing children’s ministry to a new level of excellence. The Lead Children’s Pastor will lead our current
children’s staff and collaborate extensively across the entire staff. Their leadership will shape our overall philosophy of developing the emerging generations to promote ownership of their faith and the local church. The right candidate will have a focused and contagious passion for seeing children and their families
come to know and follow Jesus.
This individual will also understand that volunteers are the lifeblood of children’s ministry. They will have experience and understand how to work within a multilevel structure of volunteers and implement systems to increase efficiency and professionalism. The right candidate will possess the skills to come alongside our children’s ministry team, leading with humility, to develop and grow each member to achieve their potential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities –
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Exemplify a passion for seeing kids and their families come to know and follow Jesus.
Foster a contagious servant culture across our volunteers that people want to be a part of through training, engagement, encouragement, and appreciation.
Create and maintain a safe and secure environment for all Children’s events and programming, through deliberate planning and coordination across the various staff functions.
Raise our children’s ministry to a new level of excellence through thoughtful strategy, oversight, organization, and professionalism.
Align, equip, and inspire children’s ministry staff under a unified vision.
Oversee and develop children’s ministry staff to capitalize on strengths and develop areas for
Engage with and give shape to the Family Team with the overall goal of reaching the emerging
Planning, management, and oversight of the Children’s ministry budget, supplies, and resources.
Oversight and administration of Pre-K through 5th grade Sunday morning programming and volunteer engagement/staffing.
Proven ability to recruit, train, and build volunteer teams.
Excellent problem solver who is capable of making quick, informed, decisions under pressure.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) –
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in: Children’s Ministry, Leadership, Early Childhood Education, Administration or a comparable discipline.
7+ years of Children’s Ministry or closely related educational or administration experience.
Experience leading teams of staff and volunteers.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience working with children and their parents in a children’s ministry, camp, or educational setting.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in a church setting of 1000+ in weekly attendance.
Experience leading staff and multiple levels of volunteers.
High level of problem-solving abilities among families and volunteers.
Strong interpersonal skills with children and parents, as well as student and adult volunteers.
A high level of initiative and ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
Embrace and embody the mission, vision, and staff values of UCC, faithfully attend service, and support it financially.
Personal faith in Jesus Christ and agreement with UCC’s Core Beliefs.
Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates : A background check and drug screening will be required.
Spiritual Requirements:
Must align with UCCs statement of beliefs, vision, mission and values.
Physical Requirements:
Able to conduct business both sitting and standing, in an active and dynamic environment (classroom, office, outdoor camp).
Able to commute to and from work to the church campus or designated off site locations; as necessary.
