The ideal candidate will play a crucial part in ensuring the quality of patient care by providing strategic legal counsel on a wide range of healthcare matters. This role involves representing medical staff in peer review hearings, advising on regulatory compliance, drafting and reviewing bylaws, conducting legal research, and staying current on emerging healthcare laws and regulations.Duties
Represent medical staff in peer review hearings, including conducting witness interviews, drafting briefs, and presenting arguments.Advise medical staff on regulatory and accreditation compliance, including applying peer review statutes, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and Joint Commission standards.Draft and review medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations.Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on complex healthcare law issues.Stay current on emerging healthcare laws and regulations to provide informed legal counsel.Requirements
7-10 years of experience in healthcare law.Strong understanding of peer review statutes, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and Joint Commission standards.Proven ability to conduct thorough legal research and prepare detailed memoranda.Strong work ethic and a collaborative approach to working with medical staff and colleagues.Education
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Certifications
Admission to the State Bar of California is required.Skills
Exceptional legal research and writing skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
