Develops procedures and processes to ensure maximum compliance with state and federal OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related federal and state regulations. The actual compensation offered to the selected individual will depend on their relevant education, training, or experience, among other bona fide factors.Expected Minimum Pay Rate: USD $113,300.00/Yr.Expected Maximum Pay Rate: USD $155,810.00/Yr.ResponsibilitiesWorks closely with management and consultants to analyze, evaluate and communicate root cause and trends related to incidents and injuries, hazard control, and disability management across all work locations.Coordinates the investigation of workplace safety incidents.Represents Raley’s in OSHA citation investigations and negotiates citation settlements in consultation with legal.Monitors and audits to see that Safety policies and procedures are followed.Ensures compliance with federal and state EHS, disability and ADA regulations through the development and management of Raley’s safety policies and procedures.Conducts a variety of routine to complex tests, audits, analysis and reporting in support of compliance and the identification and elimination of hazards.Participates in claims reviews aimed at the evaluation, mitigation and resolution of claims up to return to work and permanent and stationary release.Serves as the point of contact for all environmental issues including regulatory compliance, HazMat training, hazardous waste disposal and documentation.Oversees and negotiates contracts and service level agreements and evaluates vendor performance. Receives vendor reporting and notes deficiencies and corrective actions and takes action to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.Manages and provides technical guidance to team members of a department and creates a positive experience for team members as a servant leader.Applies understanding of department objectives in design and implementation of programs, policies and procedures.Interviews, selects, evaluates and recognizes team member results and actions.Promotes a constructive work environment, organizing staff to accomplish work and meet business demands and demonstrates initiative and risk taking.Provides team with opportunities for on-going self-development.Reviews expenses and payroll time records and approves. Reviews operational and fiscal activities of a department to include budgets.Provides organizational reporting, presentations and consultation. Reviews reporting and audits related to safety. Prepares and submits reporting to government agencies and ensures compliance with mandated reporting requirements.Oversees day to day safety related issues; functions as the corporate safety subject matter expert and coach for all EHS programs and related business processes.Provides content review and input for the development of training and educational materials to instruct team members in safe work practices and job hazards.May coordinate the safety review of new store/facilities plans, engineering/ergonomic changes, personal protective equipment changes and new tools and/or equipment purchases with safety consultants.Manages a team of safety support specialists at the Support Center and retail locations.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree plus five (5) or more years progressive experience in managing health and safety policies and practices.Prior experience leading environmental health and safety.Experience leading a team.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Required KnowledgeExtensive knowledge of state, federal, health and safety and environmental requirements and regulations specific to the industry, and ADA Regulations.Subject matter expertise: all environmental issues applicable to the business including regulatory compliance, Haz Mat training, air quality, DOT, hazardous waste disposal and documentation.Knowledge of retail and warehouse work environments.Skills & AbilitiesDemonstrated passion for workplace safety and genuine care for the team member work experience.Responsive to a wide range of requests for expertise.Ability to administer, design and implement a variety of occupational safety and health programs in a multi-site and multi-state operation.Ability to source and manage a variety of vendors.Operational knowledge of a personal computer and related software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.Excellent communication and presentation skills.Ability to relate well to others and build effective business relationships and persuade others to accept proposals and take action.Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to correctly identify key elements impacting safety and disability management performance.CertificationsCertified Safety Professional (CSP) or other safety certification program, preferred.Valid Driver’s License.Physical DemandsEmployees may occasionally experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:SittingView computer monitorWalking and standingDrivingWork EnvironmentWork is performed in a business office environment.
