As an Assistant / Junior Associate Producer, you will work closely with the Head of Audio and Video and/or Supervising producer. You’ll support management of a growing team along with development and production of a diverse slate of digital video, podcasts, social media, documentaries etc.We are seeking a scrappy, entrepreneurial self-starter with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a sharp intellect. You should have a demonstrated obsession (not necessarily a degree in!) in video, audio or documentary journalism or news. You must be able to write quickly and crisply, and be passionate about the Free Press’s unique mission and exciting place in the landscape.Key Responsibilities:Administrative Tasks:

Handle various administrative duties, including scheduling meetings, maintaining production calendars, and organizing files and documents. Ensure smooth day-to-day operations within the Audio and Video Department.Research and Reporting:

Conduct in-depth research of all kinds, but particularly sourcing of archival footage.Production Support:

Help coordinate logistical aspects of production, such as scheduling shoots, booking locations, and organizing equipment. Support the team in all phases of production, from pre-production planning to post-production.Content Development:

Support the development of everything from social videos to documentaries and podcasts.Project Management:

Support project management timelines and workflows, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are delivered. Communicate effectively with team members and external partners to keep projects on track.Qualifications:Demonstrated passion for journalism, news, and documentary filmmaking, with an interest in exploring underreported stories.Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Willingness to take initiative, be adaptable, and tackle new challenges with enthusiasm.(Basic) Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and/or cinematography, or a desire to learn these, would be great!What We Offer:A unique opportunity to work with a team of passionate professionals committed to producing impactful journalism and storytelling.An environment that values creativity, independence, and a fearless approach to tackling challenging topics.Opportunities for professional growth and development within a rapidly expanding company.The chance to contribute to high-quality content that makes a difference in public discourse.Cover Letter:
