Working Title: Assistant Professor - Sociology (Tenure-Track)Proposed Salary: $61,500Appointment Percentage: 100%Position SummaryThe Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice invites applicants for one tenure-track, assistant professor position to begin in August 2025. We seek applications from individuals who have, or are near completion of, a doctorate in Sociology. (Doctorate must be earned by the first personnel review in the Spring 2026 Semester). Successful candidates must express their dedication to high quality undergraduate education and will be expected to teach one or more courses in our core Sociology Major curriculum, one of our general education courses (for example, a course on race and ethnicity), and electives in their areas of expertise. We seek a scholar with expertise related to illness, health, and healthcare. Preference will be given to candidates who can develop and teach courses in at least one of the following areas: race and ethnic relations, health and illness, mental health, disability, aging, healthcare, and well-being.Successful candidates will be foremost an inspirational teacher, role model, and mentor to students with varying career goals. The successful candidate must express their dedication to high quality undergraduate education and have the experience necessary to supervise and mentor undergraduate students. Candidates who have experience with a variety of teaching methods, have knowledge of or experience working with culturally diverse groups, have the potential to obtain research funding, have experience with community-engaged research, and have a strong desire to incorporate undergraduate students in their research activities are preferred.The position will remain open until filled; however, review of applications will begin on September 15, 2024.
