As a GNC Robotics Engineer, you will focus on the integration and testing of sensors and actuators on our satellite platform and mission-critical flight software. This is a hands-on position, and you will engage with E-Space GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Controls), platform, avionics, and software engineers to procure, design, validate, test, and operate GNC hardware that meets required behavior and performance on board our satellites. This position will report to the GNC Lead and is an onsite position based in Saratoga, CA.What you'll be doing:Develop and maintain testbeds for characterizing performance of various sensors and fusion algorithmsInterface with flight software and avionics teams to build test jigs for qualifying GNC components on the flight computer board, including working with sensor/actuator drivers, firmware, and communication protocolsDevelopment of sensor models and fusion algorithms and testing them on the hardwareDesign and implementation of software tools for ground and in-orbit calibrationProcessing, visualization, and evaluation of orbit data to assess sensor and actuator behavior and performanceCross-functional interaction with other subsystem engineers, providing expertise as neededParticipation, presentation, and documentation for engineering reviewsWhat you bring to this role:BS +4 years / MS +2 year in Electronics, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent field of studyHands-on professional experience with a robotic vehicleExperience building hardware using Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Pixhawk or micro-controllersExperience with sensors (IMUs, magnetometers, GPS/GNSS receivers, Earth sensors, Sun sensors, star trackers, etc.)Knowledge of UART, SPI, I2C and CAN communication protocolsProficient in Matlab, Python, C/C++Familiarity with CAD and 3d printingHighly proactive team player with excellent technical communication and presentation skillsBonus points for the following:Experience building space/aerial/ground robotsExperience with spacecraft GNC hardware/software, including throughout the design and testing processesExperience implementing Kalman filters and sensor fault detectionFamiliarity with PCB Schematics for aerospace or robotics applicationsExperience with machine learning and artificial intelligenceThis is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office.  The target base pay for this position is $150,000 - $200,000 annually.  The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities.
