Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled investment research analyst with an interest in the energy transition sector. The ideal candidate will have completed an investment banking analyst training program and have experience in private equity and/or equity research with a demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive fundamental research on both public and private investment opportunities. The candidate will focus on analyzing and sourcing investment opportunities that align with our organization's strategic goals in transitioning towards sustainable energy solutions.

Energy Transition Portfolio Manager

Major Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and underwrite both public and private investments in sectors such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy storage, hydrogen, electric vehicles and carbon capture;
  • Evaluate and underwrite investments in commodity futures (oil, gas, power, metals).
  • Build and maintain financial models to assess the financial viability and valuation of investment opportunities, including discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company analysis (CCA), market positioning, competitive advantages, and growth prospects;
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on investments, including assessing management teams, analyzing industry dynamics, regulatory landscape, potential environmental, social, and governance risks, legal documents and market considerations;
  • Prepare related materials for disciplined investment committee process;
  • Maintain relationships with company management teams, advisors and sell side trading and research counterparties.


Requirements
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience within the Financial Services or Energy Industry. Some combination of investment banking, equity research and/or private equity experience preferred.
  • Ability to conduct research independently, identify and assess key opportunities and risks, and summarize results
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to distill complex situations into succinct takeaways
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and expeditiously
  • Ability to work effectively with a team
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Anticipated Salary Range

We anticipate the base salary for this role will be in the range of $135k - $180k

In addition to a base salary, the successful candidate will also be eligible to receive a discretionary year-end bonus, as well as other benefits.
