This position is 40 hours per week with a salary hourly range for FY25 is $77,790.96-102,068.72.

Summary Description

Provides superior service to employees and a commitment to the successful operation of our Information technology systems. We are seeking a qualified Computer Systems Administrator to assist our employees with questions and problems concerning computer systems, hardware, and software. The Administrator with assist Town employees with help desk concerns, manage computers deployment, applications, servers, smartphones and networks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Perform server administration tasks (ex: user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services); research event-log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
  • Responsible for new user setup and computer rollouts.
  • Responsible for maintaining a current inventory of all Town-wide installed hardware and software.
  • Must be on-call to immediately respond to errors or system network failures.
  • Collaborates with other staff to research and resolve problems.
  • Keep knowledgeable about current technologies related to software and computer hardware.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Necessary Knowledge and Skills:


  • Strong working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Strong working knowledge of Office 365, Windows desktop environment, Android and IOS.
  • Understanding of Cisco Duo Multifactor Authentication preferred.
  • Knowledge of Munis and Full Circle is a plus.
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience and Training
  • 3-5 years of Server and network support experience.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus.
