Position Summary:NJIT is seeking a highly motivated and experienced licensingmanager to join our Technology Transfer Office (TTO). The successful candidatewill be responsible for managing the licensed intellectual property (IP)portfolio of the university, administering licensing agreements, andmaintaining relationships between the university and license holders withpost-licensing-execution activities. The Licensing Manager will play a crucialrole in managing university-developed technologies and ensuring that they reachtheir full potential in the marketplace with potential return of the investment.
Essential Functions:- Manage the financial accounts related to licenseagreements.- Coordinate withattorneys, IP firms and external stakeholders to ensure timely and effective processingof licensing agreements and amendments along with routine correspondence.- Manage post-executionactivities including ensuring compliance with terms and conditions and existinglicense agreements as needed.- Serve as a liaisonbetween the university and industry partners on licensing administration.- Provide guidanceand training to faculty, researchers, and students on IP protection andcommercialization processes.- Organize andparticipate in workshops, seminars, and other events to raise awareness oftechnology transfer activities and opportunities.- Maintain accuraterecords of all IP and licensing activities.- Prepare reportson the status of licensing activities and commercialization outcomes forinternal and external stakeholders.- Monitor andreport on technology transfer metrics and performance indicators.- Work with TTO teamto promote university technologies and capabilities to potential partnersthrough various channels, including conferences, meetings, and marketingmaterials.
Prerequisite Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., science,engineering, business).- Minimum of 3 years of experience in technology transfer,IP management, licensing, or related fields.- Strong knowledge of patent law, IP protection, andlicensing practices.- Proven track record of managing licensing agreements.- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonalskills.- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders,including faculty, researchers, industry partners, and legal professionals.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in afast-paced environment.- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
