This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Project Manager for our Chicago, IL office. Be involved in projects with our Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges

Your Impact
  • Must be knowledgeable of various client construction spécifications and contract management.
  • Supervise, develop and train field staff and other construction support staff assigned to a project.
  • Supervise and conduct the inspection and review of work in accordance with applicable codes and standards included in the project drawings and specifications
  • Serves as the technical representative for the management and inspection of contractor construction activities, payments, processing and negotiation of claims and change orders
  • Acts as the primary point of contact between the client, engineering team, and contractors.
  • Manages the construction management team consisting of engineers, inspectors, project control, office engineers, project administrators, and sub-consultants.
  • Review and make recommendations for contractors' project schedules and non-conforming work
  • Analyze and negotiate contract change orders,
  • Represents projects at meetings and conferences
  • Apply diversified knowledge of construction engineering principles and practices and independently makes decision on significant construction engineering problems
  • Meeting with prospective clients to learn about future CM pursuit opportunities
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 12 years of construction management experience
  • Experience with public transportation and rail projects
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced certification, such as a Professional Engineer's (PE) License, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification, or the ability to obtain license/certification within 12 months.
  • AREMA, CMAA, or other technical association involvement
