ExemptPOSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Estimator works independently and is responsible for maintaining good, healthy, professional client relationships, and providing leadership for continuously improving the process for estimating. This position analyses the estimates and identifies the anomalies and makes sure that their accuracies are verified. The Sr. Estimator will oversee the estimating function and activities related to the working of the estimating department. They will confer with the engineers, architects, subcontractors, contractors, vendors, etc., on the adjustments or changes that need to be made in the cost estimates and helps in determining the feasibility of the project. The Sr. Estimator is responsible to thoroughly research the previous data related to subcontracts and purchase orders, etc., compiles the relevant reports, and helps in the development of guidelines for future estimates.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand and analyze all construction documents including bid submittal requirements, project general requirements, government and code requirements impacting the work of the project.Manages multiple bids.Independently perform scope reviews and intelligently communicate with client.Visit and analyze the construction sites.Identify time and cost constraints in the projects.Independently develop and understand the project schedule.Manage the risks and develop a plan to address the time and costs constraints.Manage and lead the bid submission and prequalification process.Independently prepares and completes proposals with inclusions/exclusions.Develop estimates for planning and organizing the project.Develop accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for all phases of construction work with emphasis on the self-performed general conditions, concrete, masonry, and carpentry activities.Calculate total cost of raw materials, equipment and utilities for the project.Determine the total amount of labor needed to complete a project understanding the time and cost constraints.Solicit and negotiate best prices from various vendors and subcontractors to obtain the most competitive cost for materials, equipment and subcontractor labor.Makes accurate estimate decisions based on Vendor quotes and pricing schedules.Accurately compute project costs using Cost Estimate software.Oversee, guide and develop Estimators on the Team helping them to gain additional competencies to analyze, negotiate and prepare accurate bid submissions confidently.Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and general contractors.Organize and distribute all construction documents in a timely manner to subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers and negotiate pricing. Must calculate and breakdown quotes.Prepare all necessary project reports and always be prepared to present to management.Responsible to keep clients and stakeholders well informed throughout the project.Transition awarded projects to project management and accounting by creating budgets, conducting “turn over” meetings to other team members, identifying special project requirements, subcontractors, and vendors.Manages internal Company and client meetings.Conduct comprehensive post-bid subcontractor scope reviews and project buyout. Follows up on bids for updates on status.Always maintain high standards of professionalism and commit to excellence in the marketplace by understanding and exceeding customer expectations through integrity, honesty and ethical conduct.Consistently monitor the latest building codes, pricing structures, new materials, new constructability concepts and trends within the concrete industry.Build and develop trusting relationships with current customers and seek to identify opportunities to grow our customer base and build positive relationships.EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Construction Management, or Architecture, preferred.Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial construction performing cost estimation of concrete construction projects, preferred.Experience with elevated structural concrete work is preferred.High degree of concrete construction knowledge and analytical skill.Strong knowledge about various construction practices.Demonstrated ability to work and lead in a team environment.Outstanding understanding of data analysis.Exceptional reporting and negotiation skills.Proficiency with computers and software, including Microsoft Office, digital take off programs, Bluebeam, and on-screen takeoff.Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks, with an emphasis on thoroughness, and attention to detail.Ability to work in a fast-paced professional and team-oriented environment.Ability to travel to all construction sites regardless of location.
