Postdoctoral Fellow - Biostatistics

University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, United States, 77246

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work under the joint supervision of Drs. Peter F. Thall and Ruitao Lin. The research will encompass an array of different possible projects, with primary focus on: (1) developing novel statistical methodologies and computer software for Bayesian adaptive designs for precision medicine, (2) investigating Bayesian learning approaches, such as Bayesian nonparametrics, BART, etc., with applications to clinical trials that may include multiple patient biological or prognostic subgroups, or disease subtypes. The Fellow will actively participate in research meetings with medical collaborators to implement applications related to methodological research projects. Other activities may include analyses of datasets having complex structures, potentially leading to methodological research.

LEARNING OBJECTIVESLearn statistical methodology and application for oncology clinical trials, Bayesian non- and semi-parametric modeling, advanced statistical learning techniques, and high dimensional or survival analyses. Develop novel Bayesian methods for precision medicine, develop strong programming and computational skills. Adapt and develop novel machine learning algorithms; Acquire extensive experience in R, R-Shiny, Python, and other programming languages/environments.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTSWe seek a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, or a related quantitative field. Candidates must have strong methodological training in statistics or biostatistics, and strong computer programming skills, in particular R/Matlab and at least one lower-level computer language, such as C++. Expertise or skills in the following areas are highly desirable: Bayesian MCMC computational methods, adaptive clinical trial design, optimization, numerical analysis, machine learning, causal inference.
