La Scuola is looking for a caring and committed preschool Teacher’s Aide / Floater for our wonderful Italian Immersion, Reggio Emilia-inspired program. This position begins immediately.Essential FunctionsMeet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child.Clean classroom environment and common areas such as bathrooms and outdoor play areas in accordance with program goals and philosophy.Clean toys and educational materials.Assist teachers during transitions to get children ready for meals, activities, etc.Organize art supplies and classroom materials.Perform required care-giving activities (i.e. feeding, toileting, changing diapers, dressing, etc).Assist the teachers in implementing positive guidance with each child.Attend meetings, trainings and professional development activities.Provide coverage of classrooms during breaks, planning time, etc.Lift up to 50 pounds.Other duties as requested.Qualifications

High School Degree or GED. Previous experience working with children required.Must meet State requirements as childcare center worker during the first year of employment by attending 4 core classes of early childhood education:

Introduction to the Field of Child Development (3 units) CDEV 65Child Growth and Development (3 units) CDEV 53Child, Family and Community (3 units) CDEV 67Curriculum for Young Children (3 units) CDEV 66

Required SkillsGreat communication skills; ability to talk with and listen to parents.Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in English.Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in Italian or Spanish is also preferred.Outstanding interpersonal skills.Problem-solving, creativity, multi-tasking skills.Flexibility and the ability to thrive in a start-up environment.Excellent attendance and punctuality records.Additional Information

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.Prior to beginning work and as a condition of employment in order to comply with the law, all employees must provide documentation to prove eligibility to work in the United States.In addition, the final candidate will need to pass both Criminal Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance and a physical exam, and provide a recent copy of a negative TB test and other immunization records.Estimated hourly rate: $21-$24 / hour depending on credentials, qualifications and experience.Position receives excellent benefits, including medical, vision and dental coverage.
