Your work at LongPath will save more energy in one year than you will use in your entire life.LongPath is seeking an experienced Optical Scientist to drive development of open path laser spectrometers, including optoelectronic signal characteristics, robust optomechanical design, and prototype development and testing. The ideal candidate will be excited to take a great deal of ownership from specifications to final design and work well in a dynamic team. We are a small and fast-growing company, so the position offers a large amount of both freedom and responsibility!Sunny Boulder, Colorado is home to a thriving downtown and university campus, with bikeable commute options and ready access to world class rock climbing, skiing, hiking, and biking. A short 30-minute drive provides access to Denver’s museums, airport, and city life.What You’ll Do
Turn open ended design requirements into functional optical transceiversDesign and execute experiments for hardware characterization and validationHands on assembly and test of prototypesWhat You’ll Need
Optical lab techniquesFreespace beam propagation modeling experienceOptomechanical design principles with free-space opticsSNR modeling and validation experienceLow noise electronics experienceExcellent interpersonal communication skills with a wide range of individual stakeholders, including non-engineersBachelor’s Degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical fieldDesired Skills
Low optical power detection/photon counting experienceZemax experienceSolidWorks experienceWorking Conditions
Work is performed in an office/laboratory environment in Boulder, COMust be authorized to work for any employer in US (no sponsorship)Salary range $90-110kEquity grantTo Apply
