The Visitor Experience (VX) Specialist is the welcoming and informative first point of contact with visitors and members at The Contemporary Jewish Museum (The CJM). The Museum strives to offer a best-in-class experience to each visitor immediately upon arrival and throughout their stay. VX Specialist team members create a friendly and helpful environment and assist in enforcing health and safety practices, as needed.The individual in this position is dependable with strong interpersonal and communications skills. Work shifts for this position may vary, (12-15 hours a week), primarily during the Museum’s public hours, Thursday through Sunday. Shifts will be scheduled by the Senior Visitor Experience Manager.For all positions, The Museum expects an interest in and commitment to the mission and core values of The CJM, including its beliefs in anti-racism, diversity, equity, access, and inclusion.Position: Visitor Experience SpecialistDepartment: Visitor ExperienceReports To: Senior Visitor Experience ManagerStatus: Part-time, Non-exemptCompensation: $18.93/hourLocation: On-site at The CJM, San Francisco, CAHandle visitor access and hospitality at The CJM’s Shenson Welcome Center and throughout The CJM’s lobby, The CJM Shop, and public spaces, including providing visitor orientation to The Museum and surrounding areasCirculate within the galleries, engage with visitors, and offer inspiring and knowledgeable service, sharing a strong understanding of the current exhibitionsWelcome Museum visitors and scan pre-purchased admission tickets; assist visitors with onsite, contact-less ticket purchasesEngage with Museum visitors around The CJM Shop and transact sales of exhibition catalogs and other merchandiseAnswer questions and provide in-person guidance to visitors in The Museum and occasionally via phone and email; resolve and document general complaints from guests and membersStay informed about current and upcoming exhibitions, programs, and marketing campaigns.Monitor the visitor experience to ensure that requests and special needs are met, provide way-finding, and create an enjoyable and rewarding experience for visitorsEnsure visitor security and safety, coordinating any issues with other Visitor Experience and Security personnel. Act as eyes and ears for Museum Security.Stay informed/up-to-date on changes to health and safety requirements.Help maintain clean and organized public spaces, and assist with managing crowds and equipment at eventsEducation and Experience

Minimum one year of experience in customer service, visitor services, retail or tourism environmentExcellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)Organizational and accounting skills with a strong attention to detailComputer proficient, knowledge of online ticketing systems a plusProfessional and cordial demeanorEnthusiastic, dependable, and flexibleSkills and Abilities

Self-motivated and confident in interacting with the public in high energy environmentsAbility to problem-solve unexpected issues in a public settingCapable of responding to emergency situations such as assisting in building evacuationAbility to circulate in The Museum and galleries to ensure visitor compliance with all safety standards and protocolsAvailability to work on weekend days and some holidays. Occasional evening hours for special events or exhibition openings.Physical requirements

Occasional lifting or carrying under 10 lbsRarely may push or pull items – under 10 lbsOccasional kneeling or reaching overheadFrequent sitting, standing, and bending.
