Senior Staff Accountant
assists the accounting manager with full-cycle accounting and financial analysis. This position will support the senior accountants, accounting manager, and various director(s) of accounting/finance to ensure accuracy of accounting records and financial statements. The Sr. Staff Accountant is responsible for processing financial data in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IFRS, preparing monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, assisting with audit(s), preparing state tax and other regulatory filings, and assisting in preparing and leading G&A budgets. The Sr. Staff Accountant will protect the organization’s integrity by maintaining the company’s product and customer information confidential. Overtime may be required during quarterly/annual audits and month-end. This is an in-office role in our El Segundo (Los Angeles) office, and the pay range for annual base salary is $70,000-$85,000, depending on experience.RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner and collaborate with other accounting team members to provide accounting services to assigned operating companies in the U.S.Perform monthly close functions, including account reconciliations, accruals, and preparation of journal entries.Prepare monthly account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items on a monthly basis.Ensure that adequate supporting documentation and approvals are maintained for audit purposes.Ensure all month-end journal entries are recorded following the monthly close schedule.Coordinate and collaborate with Inventory, Logistics, A/R, A/P, Legal, and HR as needed, as well as other departments.Responsible for reconciliation of intercompany accounts as assigned.Prepare fluctuation of balance sheets and other ad hoc analyses.Assist with quarterly & annual review analysis as needed for management and audit.Prepare supporting schedules to facilitate audit schedules and collaborate with external auditors to ensure timely and adequate responses to audit requests.Identify and improve procedures to achieve efficiencies with month-end close and day-to-day operations.Support Finance Director(s) with month-end accruals, day-to-day activities, and other ad hoc projects relating to COGS, marketing, and accounting.Document policies and procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.Prepare audit and tax schedules for year-end.Timely prepare state tax filings, property taxes, and other regulatory filings as needed for COSI/USPN/TUNA.Promote internal controls, adherence to operating procedures, and compliance with financial reporting guidelines.Assist with ad hoc accounting and financial projects as requested.REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, or related business field with an accounting concentration.3-7 years of combined accounting experience within a medium-to-large business.Experience in a food manufacturing company and import business is a plus.Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions.Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, internal controls, and financial reporting.Experience with ERP or other accounting applications, especially Oracle, AS400, and SAP.Advanced Excel skills strongly desired (i.e., pivot tables, v/x-lookups, formulas, etc.).Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work in an office environment and participate in team building/collaboration.Ability to work independently and prioritize work effectively with direction from supervisor.Comfortable providing mentorship and guidance to entry-mid level staff as needed.Strong analytical and math skills.Good collaboration, negotiation, and influencing skills.Exhibits effective organizational and time-management skills.Knowledge or familiarity with Cost Accounting is a plus.Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.Strong ability to handle assignments within tight timelines.Strong problem-solving skills.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
