Systems Engineer (EMC, NetApp or VMware)

Full-time

All candidates must be US Citizens and either local to the area or willing to relocate. The client is willing to offer relocation assistance.

Salary + Benefits

The Storage and Virtualization Engineer evaluates, implements, and maintains Storage Area Networks (SANs) and storage systems across enterprise platforms. They should have hands-on experience with SAN/NAS management, coordinating and performing system backups, monitoring system availability, troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving problems, recovering processes affected during downtimes, hardware and software configurations, performing monitoring and tuning, performing change management, and participating in disaster recovery.

Responsibilities include:

Acting as the primary point of contact for all network incidents that cannot be resolved by support technicians.

Working with Unix and Windows system administrators to connect and configure Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) on servers.

Designing, configuring, and provisioning storage for servers.

Performing day-to-day storage system administration, hardware installation, performance monitoring, and client problem resolution.

Analyzing performance from both the server and the storage perspectives using available tools.

Troubleshooting and correcting issues pertaining to storage connectivity, capacity, or performance.

Performing periodic and emergency system maintenance, minimizing business impact.

Troubleshooting and resolving storage-related hardware and software problems.

Isolating problems and providing corrective action in collaboration with Unix and Windows engineers.

Performing full and incremental backups of all lab infrastructure and systems, including systems connected to the Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN).

Providing efficient and reliable storage allocation and defining backup, recovery, and archival procedures.

Maintaining storage configurations for capacity planning and performance monitoring/tuning.

Possessing an in-depth knowledge of storage networking standards, protocols, security, and performance tuning.

Performing general maintenance, backup, and restoration tasks in accordance with technical tasking.

Skills Required:

VMWare Certified Professional (VCP-Cloud or higher) or equivalent experience.

VMWare Certified Advanced Professional on vSphere 5 (VCAP5).

EMC Certified Information Storage Associate (EMCISA or higher) or equivalent experience.
