Honda Research Institute USA (HRI-US) is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to design and develop scalable and reliable software modules for autonomous driving and cooperative mobility. Candidates will work with a team of scientists and engineers to implement state-of-the-art algorithms on physical systems as well as maintaining and improving existing code libraries. Location: San Jose, CA Key Responsibilities Ability to architect a full system including software components for hardware platforms. Implement low-latency and high-performance software prototype modules, integrate, deploy, and test them in both simulation and real AD vehicles. Develop software infrastructure and tools, such as test scenarios, baseline algorithms, module interfaces, etc. to facilitate the team's development efforts. Minimum Qualifications B.S or M.S. candidate in computer science, or robotics. Familiar with modern software engineering tools such as Git, CI/CD, Containers (Docker, Kubernetes). 2+ years of programming experience in C++ and Python. 2+ years of experience with Robot Operating System (ROS/ROS2). Bonus Qualifications Hands-on experience in real-world robotics applications. Experience with vehicle simulators such as Carla, Carmaker, etc. Familiarity with vehicle sensors and hardware, including cameras, LiDAR, GPS, CAN, IMU, USB, Ethernet.
