Senior Director, Life Cycle Assessment
As Director, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) you will be responsible for overseeing a comprehensive program to help reduce carbon footprint of concrete by:
Increasing number of concrete plants with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) from 1,500 to 4,500 by offering pass-through grants to concrete producers; reward low-carbon concrete EPDs; improve verification process
Providing technical support and certify 500 individuals in the concrete industry with the expertise to produce robust, accurate, high quality EPDs
Adding capabilities into NRMCA's Concrete Carbon Calculator
Publishing carbon footprint benchmarks for ready mixed concrete in over 50 subregions
Improving and developing Product Category Rules (PCRs), benchmarks and EPDs for concrete and constituent materials
Specific Tasks
Oversee the development of an ADA compliant, searchable website to publish verified EPDs
Setup and administer a program to provide incentives (rebates) for concrete producers to publish on-demand EPDs
Engage LCA consultants who produce EPD tools, individuals who verify EPDs, concrete producer personnel who enter data, and program operators to improve the verification process
Develop guidelines for personnel entering data into the EPD tools, quality control standards for EPD tools, standards for verification procedures, and machine readable EPD template
Oversee the quality of EPDs, EPD Program Operators, tools, and verifiers through a continuous monitoring and reverification process
Provide technical assistance to concrete producer personnel responsible for developing EPDs
Develop an online education and certification program for concrete producer personnel on how to gather and interpret data to publish and use EPDs
Develop and implement comprehensive LCA strategies and methodologies specific to concrete manufacturing in NRMCA Concrete Carbon Calculator Tool
Use LCA methodologies to identify key areas for improvement in terms of environmental impacts, energy efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction for concrete construction projects
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop sustainability initiatives to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and certifications related to LCA
Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, chemistry, engineering, or a related field
Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is highly preferred
5-10 years' experience working in LCA and related software
Professional certification(s) in LCA preferred
Understanding of data quality management preferred
Understanding of concrete and construction preferred
Physical Requirements
Position requires some travel (10%)
Work from a home office located reasonably close to a major airport in the United States.
