at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque is looking for a full-time General Dentist specializing in Special Needs to provide and oversee direct dental diagnosis, treatment, procedures, and care for patients with Special Needs in a public health setting. You will play a vital role in ensuring that individuals with special needs receive the dental care they deserve. You will work closely with our team to deliver personalized and compassionate dental services tailored to the unique needs of each patient. The ideal candidate should be comfortable providing care to special needs patients. The dentist should have current experience in all phases of general dentistry including surgical extractions. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience working with and supervising dental residents. This is a clinician educator track open rank position which affords applicants the opportunity to enter as an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor and educator who is primarily engaged in clinical care with residents. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary team of faculty providing the delivery of education, surgical services, clinical care, and research.Responsibilities:Provide direct clinical care (adults and children)Provide comprehensive dental care to individuals with special needs, including those with physical, developmental, intellectual, or medical disabilities in a clinical settingPerform Surgical and Third Molar Extractions appropriate for a general dentist.Work in dental clinic and/or OR settingProvide resident didactic and clinical trainingEducate patients, caregivers, and families about oral hygiene practices and preventive dental care strategies tailored to their needs.Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and healthcare providers to promote oral health awareness and access to dental services for individuals with special needs.Attend in the OR and ASCOpportunity to work collaboratively with other specialties in a hospital-based settingGreat benefits (such as a medical, dental, vision and retirement plans)Beautiful living areas around Albuquerque within 20 min of the clinicGorgeous sunsets and spacious mountain viewsMinimum Qualifications:Doctorate degree in Dental Surgery or Dental MedicineAt least 1 year of directly related experience completing dental treatments to patients with Special NeedsLicensure or ability to obtain licensure from New Mexico Board of Dental Health CareCompletion of an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program or equivalent from a Commission on Dental Accreditation institutionPreferred Qualifications:Experience in the practice of the full scope general dentistryExperience working with dental residentsDemonstrated skills for implants and complicated surgical extractionsSome experience with hospital dentistryCertification by either the American Board of Oral Medicine or American Board of Special Care DentistryA demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success as well as working with broadly diverse communitiesApplication Instructions:
