Reporting to the Vice President of Grid Integration, as an Engineer you will be responsible for managing interconnection duties for solar and storage projects. Your primary focus will be to create, manage and track utility interconnection applications. Additionally, you will build relationships with utilities to expedite the interconnection process, negotiate with utilities on interconnection decisions, work with internal teams on technical and financial decisions for interconnections and manage vendor interactions. Your daily activities will include but not be limited to project support, strategic research and analysis on technical and policy related topics. Attention to detail and thoroughness are critical for being successful in this position. This position will be based at our office in the Back Bay area of Boston, per the current hybrid office schedule.What you'll doNegotiate with utilities on interconnection related topics, including scope, timeline and costsManage and maintain interconnection cost forecasts on various marketsAssist management in interconnection strategyManage incentive application and materials for BlueWave projectsManage and communicate interconnection milestone payments and scheduleAssist in justification of the financial case for interconnection paymentsCoordinate with internal teams to create and improve processes for making paymentsCoordinate with internal teams on process improvements for interconnection aspects of solar and storage developmentForm strong relationships and maintain frequent communication (formal and informal) with various utility personnel across the chain that impact BlueWave projectsManage recurring project and technical meetings with utility personnelLead weekly internal interconnection update meetingsManage third party technical consultants, engineers and other entitiesParticipate in and influence market related policy and regulatory meetings to BW’s benefitCoordination of interconnection aspects for construction and commercial operation of projectsQualificationsMinimum of 3 years experience working with utility/developer or IPPAbility to work well on a team in a fast-paced environment and manage tight deadlinesBe detail orientated and possess interpersonal and organizational skillsStrong engineering, analytical and quantitative skillsKnowledge of utility infrastructure (including transmission and substation engineering) is strongly desiredUnderstand solar and storage project electrical components, including batteries, balance of systems, inverters and transformersUnderstand solar and storage project single line diagrams and layoutsUnderstand utility infrastructure and interconnection processesUnderstand technical aspects of utility interconnection materialsUnderstand state policy, incentives and tariff implications on interconnection applicationsUnderstand implications of Project Development and Project Engineering on interconnection aspectsBlueWave provides employees with a robust benefits package, including unlimited paid time off, dedicated volunteer days, cell phone reimbursement, summer Fridays and 13 paid holidays.
