Director of Community Engagement . This position is open and we aim to hire for a start date of September 3, 2024.Temple Shir Tikva is the leading synagogue in Boston’s MetroWest, a thriving community that is home to members of all generations providing them with a nurturing, engaging and warm community to call their own. Our membership is growing, our program is expanding, and we are looking to strengthen our fabulous professional team.We are looking for the missing piece in our dynamic staff team; we are looking for you. As Director of Community Engagement, you will be responsible for engaging and recruiting new members; supporting all aspects of clergy- and congregant- initiated programs; and helping us create scalable processes to make it easier and more efficient for our growing congregation to offer a wide-variety of effective programming.New Membership Engagement and Recruiting (20%)

Respond to new member inquiries, talk to potential members, send membership applicationsCoordinate with Director of Education to provide information to new members about our education programsWork with the New Membership and Marketing trustees to support programs or events to recruit and welcome new membersGreet new members and work to find ways to quickly engage them with the communityEnsure staff and clergy are reaching out to new membersEvent Management and Support (50%)

Manage and support staff-led and congregant-led events; provide support for events to increase capacity for programming.Work with staff and congregants to identify and coordinate resources required (e.g. AV/Custodial support, other staffing, food, setup, calendaring, promotion, purchasing)Develop budgets and get approval on spending prior to eventsBe the TST staff person partnering with outside organizations for events taking place at TST (CJP, JFS-MW, JCC, etc.).Help create action plans, event setup plans, day-of-event plans for eventsCollect feedback from staff and congregants after the event to continuously improve specific eventsMake recommendations to Leadership Team and Board to improve overall quality of programming for congregantsRitual Event Management (10%)

Project manage high holidays and other major worship events to support clergy and professional staffCreate and manage project plans, budget and track expenses, procure supplies, coordinate staffingWork with other staff to calendar, set up registrations, coordinate communicationsInvolve and coordinate volunteersProvide on-site staffing and management of events at ritual events as needed.Collect feedback from staff and congregants after the event to continuously improveWrite after-event communications about events for community (eg for Chai Lights, etc)Annual Calendar Management (10%)

Develop calendaring process, monitor calendar, ensure staff and congregant events are calendared and advertisedAnnual and quarterly planning meetings with Leadership team to schedule events over the yearServe as resource for congregants (committees, etc.) to help them find appropriate dates for eventsEnsure appropriate planning time is built in to prepare for major eventsEvent System and Process Development (10%)

Develop sustainable event processes, develop self-serve resources for staff and congregants, continuously improve process to create more effective and efficient high-quality programmingMaintain and improve process (forms, checklists) for congregants to propose eventsDevelop event management checklists and guidelines to help congregants self-serve on running eventsContinuously improve process to reduce effort on staff, and improve ability of congregants to operate their own programsSkills or Background Needed

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relationship-driven environmentWarm and welcoming personality, relating well to people of all agesAbility to cultivate relationships with members and be discrete with confidential informationCalm under pressure, customer service-oriented, flexible, and good sense of humorAbility to hold the big picture in mind as well as tend to the small detailsHighly organized with attention to detail and follow-through, and the ability to multitaskStrong knowledge of Jewish holidays, traditions and culture and the ability to integrate this into all levels of programmingExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience with budget development and administration desiredFluency with Microsoft OfficeMailChimp and Canva experience preferredComfort using social media to market programsBachelor’s Degree in related fieldOther Requirements

2-3 Friday night or Sunday events per monthWorking on Jewish Holidays or Shabbat when events are scheduledSalary and Benefits

Salary $60,000-$65,000Two weeks paid vacation (first year)Federal and Jewish Holidays (excepting those when events are scheduled)10 days sick leave, 2 Personal DaysMedical, Dental, and Vision InsuranceReform Pension Board optionTo Apply
