1Accounting InternDemocracy International (DI) is seeking to hire an
Accounting Intern . The intern will primarily provide support to the accounting team. This role is expected to work 20-35 hours/week regularly. This is a paid internship ($18/hour). This role is scheduled to be a hybrid remote/in-person internship at DI's offices in Bethesda, MD.
We will only consider applicants who are based in the DC area and willing to work a hybrid in-office/remote schedule.Intern responsibilities will include:Assisting with expense reconciliationAssisting with office administration and ordering office suppliesProviding support to the accounting department by reconciling monthly billing statementsEnsuring compliance with DI protocols for receipt of cash deliveries from the bankAssisting staff with shipping needs and billing shipping charges appropriatelyQualifications:Experience in operational and administrative support and backstoppingStrong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple demands, prioritize and produce high quality work under pressureCommitment to accuracy in all tasks and attention to detail and follow up is essentialAbility to work in a small office with other staff members on multiple, simultaneous projectsAbility to take initiative, function independently and exercise good judgmentProficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, basic hardware setup and maintenanceExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsExperience with expense reporting and reimbursement processing preferredReporting and Supervision:This position reports to the Accounting DirectorEnvironmental Conditions:Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, and moderate traffic)Ability to work in a confined office space/areaAbility to sit and/or stand at a computer desk for an extended period of timePhysical Requirements Required to Perform Essential Responsibilities:Stand, sit; talk, hear, use of hands and fingers, and perform repetitive motions to operate a computer and telephone keyboardReach, stoop, or kneel, to adjust computer and/or telephone equipmentSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer workHearing abilities required due to telephoneLight to moderate lifting is possibleRegular, predictable attendance is requiredApplication Process:Interested applicants
